Max thought they would be together forever. She thought they would never leave her, at least not for quite a long time. Now she finds herself missing the boys. They have been torn from her, not by her choosing, but by an unseen hand that seems to think it’s all a game. They are free, off running around causing trouble and she is left with a hollow empty feeling. The boys are changing. They no longer have her heart to guide them in their decisions. They are ready to rule again, and not with compassion and love. Max needs to find a way to corral them again before things get too far out of hand and the world becomes a red-river.
They spend most of their time separated in this book. I personally liked the idea of separating them. It showed me a side of Max that I had yet to see. She is vulnerable in this book. She has to learn how to go without the protection of Zee and the boys and do things for herself. Don’t get me wrong she has help. Grant is there, along with a few other characters. Old Wolf comes into this one later on. But ultimately we get to see Max without the mask of the boys. In previous novels it was all about how the boys and Max did this, they did that..etc. Now, in this book, she goes it mostly alone. She has to find a solution to save the world, she can’t just tell the boys to fix it—because ultimately the boys are the problem. She (and us along with her) finds out a few more details about her mother and father and that will ultimately give her a lot to think about throughout the book.
I loved this one. I waited a long time for it to come out, and was actually lucky enough to win my copy (signed and all). It was definitely a far cry from the earlier books. It brought a whole new level of understanding and emotion to the series. It had just the right amount of action, love and self-discovery that will draw you in and leave you wishing you had the next book in the series right there to read J
***On A Side note***** Just wait until the ending….something is thrown out there that will leave you going holy freaking crap I can’t believe it!!!! Let me know once you read it I am interested to hear what everyone thinks J
