Touched by A.J Aalto--Guest Post and Review

Today on the blog we have A.J Aalto. She is celebrating the Re-Launch of her Book Touched.

I am excited to be a part of this wonderful Re-launch :)

There's something really special about this time of year when you're a writer of paranormal mysteries and horror...
Monday October 29, 3:15 PM, in a writer’s sun-dappled kitchen, two days before the best holiday of the year. AJ "Writerghoulie" Aalto lies spread-eagle on the floor in a pool of blood, drumming her fingernails against the tile, humming the theme song for Ghostbusters.
The front door opens with a bang, and she falls still, staring at the ceiling. Her kids throw themselves into the house with gusto, voices overlapping, drop-kicking their backpacks in the hall. Their sneakers come to squeaking halts in the kitchen.
Jenny: Fake.
Derek: SO fake, mom.
Me: Aw, come on. At least give me props for the pigs' blood. It cost me $14.95.
Jenny: *grand eye roll*
Derek: Yeah, but there’s not even any worms, mom.
Jenny: They’re called maggots, Derek, and she’d have to have been dead a day for first instar maggots to be present.
Me: Nice work, junior investigator. Ten points for Jennifer. But hark! What worm through yonder gut wound wiggles? *letting candy peek from pocket*
Derek: Gummy worms! Can I eat one?
Jenny: Ugh. Dead-people worms.
Me: No, you can't eat the worms off your mother's corpse. What's wrong with you, child?
Jenny: Seriously? What's wrong with HIM, mom?
Derek: Didn’t you save me any gummy worms?
Jenny: Wait!! ….*grabs her brother's arm, points* Why are her eyes all funny?
Me: *grin* …. *slap-drags across the floor* … *gurgle*
Jenny: Dare-bear, we missed a clue!
Derek: *eyes widening* Oh no… FREAK-O CONTACTS!
Jenny: Mom was eviscerated by a ZOMBIE.
Me: *growl* Eviscerated. Five points for Jennifer!
Derek: She’s getting uuuuuuup! Where's my nerf gun? Shoot her in the head!
Me: Ha! Head shot. *snarl, snicker* Ten points for Derek!
Jenny: We're out of time! Run! Go! Go now!
Me: Brrraaaaaaaiiiiinnnnns….. *hangs several gummy worms from mouth* Braaaaiiins!
Both kids run shrieking and laughing into the street, yelling about zombie-Mom. I give a shambling chase, hanging my arms in mid-air like I’m auditioning for Night of the Living Dead 2: Zombies take Suburbia. If captured, both kids will be hugged and infected by Zombie-mom smooches of death! Rawr.
~Writerghoulie would like to wish everyone a safe and spooky Halloween! Have fun, and be careful. Best. Holiday. Ever.~

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

AJ Aalto is the author of Touched, first in the paranormal mystery series The Marnie Baranuik Files. Aalto is an unrepentant liar and a writer of blathering nonsense offset by factual gore. When not working on her novels, you can find her singing old Monty Python songs in the shower, eavesdropping on perfect strangers, stalking her eye doctor, or failing at one of her many fruitless hobbies. Generally a fan of anyone with a passion for the ridiculous, she has a particular weak spot for smug pseudo-intellectuals and narcissistic jerks; readers will find her work littered with dark, imperfect creatures, flawed monsters and oodles of snark. Touched is available for Kindle or Nook.
AJ cannot say no to a Snickers bar, and has been known to swallow her gum.

Book Blurb:

The media has a nickname for Marnie Baranuik, though she’d rather they didn’t; they call her the Great White Shark, a rare dual-talented forensic psychic. Twice-Touched by the Blue Sense--which gives her the ability to feel the emotions of others, and read impressions left behind on objects--Marnie also has a doctorate in preternatural biology and a working knowledge of the dark arts. She is considered without peer in the psychic community.

Then her first big FBI case ended with a bullet in one shoulder and a chip on the other, a queasy heart and a serial killer in the wind, leaving her a public flop and a private wreck. When the FBI’s preternatural crimes unit tracks her down at a remote mountain lodge for her insight on a local case, her quiet retirement is promptly besieged by a stab-happy starlet, a rampaging ghoul, and a vampire-hunting jackass in tight Wranglers. Marnie figures the only real mystery is which one will kill her first.

Too mean to die young, backed up by friends in cold places, and running with a mouth as demure as a cannon’s blast, Marnie Baranuik is about to discover that there’s no such thing as quitting time when you’re Touched.

MY REVIEW

Okay so let me start off by saying that this review is going to be unusually short.. The reason you ask?? Well, because I happened to like it so much that I do not want to unintentionally give anything away. What genre is Touched?  That my dears is a good question.  It is a little of everything. Romance, Comedy, Paranormal, Horror, you name it Touched has it. So yeah it spans multiple genres and I think everyone could find something to love about this book. I am actually surprised that I haven't came across this book before now. I am also ashamed to say that if i hadn't been asked to take a look at it I may never have had the great priveledge to read it. I laughed, I smiled, I spooked, and I laughed again. Marnie is a really great character. I found myself relating to her on a different level. We both have that way of talking in our own way...Does that even make sense?  That's why I'm not a writer---I'm a reader :)  marnie is her own person, she has her own way of doing things, and saying things and I think you all will really enjoy her in this book. This is a fast paced-action packed and kind of crazy at times book. So just sit back, enjoy the ride and let me know what you think when you get done :)   I know I was super surprised and I can't wait to see what A.J Aalto has in store for us next.

Guest Post with Katie Reus

I am happy to welcome the lovely and extremly talented Katie Reus to my blog today.
It is both an honor and a priveledge to have her here.

Thank you so much to Kristina for having me here today!

I’m clearly a fan of the paranormal and/or supernatural and while it would be difficult for me to pick a favorite type of supernatural character, I have a serious love for shifters. There’s something so sexy about a shifter hero, whether it’s a wolf, jaguar, panther, it doesn’t matter. I’m all about that animal magnetism. Shifters are more in touch with their animal side and to me, there’s nothing hotter than a (fictional) guy who’s all possessive and protective of his mate and doesn’t care if the world knows it. And vice versa, I love it when female characters are just as protective of their mates.

Not to mention the ability to change into an animal is amazing. In my current Moon Shifter series my guys are alpha, definitely protective and they all end up with mates who have no problem going toe to toe with them. In Primal Possession, my recent release, the hero Liam knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go after it. What he wants is a human named December who’s hell bent on keeping him at arm’s length. Luckily that doesn’t work out so well for her.

So, my question is… What is your favorite type of supernatural being to read about? One reader who comments on the blog today will be randomly selected to win a print copy of Primal Possession (US eligible only). Good luck and thanks so much for stopping by!

To protect her, he will unleash the beast within…

As his pack’s second-in-command, lupine shifter Liam Armstrong gives orders and takes what he wants—until he meets red-headed, blue-eyed December McIntyre. Liam knows the human beauty is his intended mate the moment he sees her, but December is far too strong-willed to accept his protection.

December, whose brother is the town sheriff, has every reason to mistrust shifters after one killed her youngest sibling. But the forceful and handsome Liam has gotten under her skin in a way she hadn’t thought possible, and the desire she feels for him is almost too much to bear.

When a radical hate group targets all humans known to sympathize with paranormal beings, December is attacked in her bookstore. Reluctantly, she turns to the only one who can help her: Liam. And he is going to take her to places within herself she never knew existed.

A little about Katie: I’ve been reading romance since a young age—ever since I discovered my mom’s hidden stash. Luckily the addiction stayed with me into adulthood. I write paranormal romance and sexy romantic suspense for Carina Press, Harlequin Nocturne, and NAL/Signet Eclipse. Guest Post with J.K Beck

First off I want to thank J.K for taking the time to stop by my blog today. I am deeply honored by her visit.
Now, without further ado i give to you the very talented J.K Beck...........

             Why Paranormal?

Thanks so much, Kristina, for having me here!

What I'm wondering today is why do you, Gentle Blogreader, enjoy paranormal books (and movies and tv shows)?  Not everyone does, of course, but I'll wager a guess that if you've come visiting in this neck of the blogosphere, it's because you like a story with an otherworldly factor.  And that gives us something in common.

I can't remember when I first realized how much I love paranormal stuff, but my earliest favorite TV shows were Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie.  I used to scour flea markets for bottles that might have a genie in them because, duh, how cool would that be, and I would so not be Major Nelson.  I mean, if I have a genie, I'm going to let him/her do stuff for me.
Other types of paranormal caught my fancy, too.  The Land of the Lost (folks transported back to dinosaur days) was a campy favorite.  Heck, I even liked (should I be ashamed to admit it?) Fantasy Island.
Favorite books seemed to always have a paranormal component or, if not that, some element of suspense--in other words, I favored books where the character's status quo was skewed.  Half Magic and A Wrinkle in Time were big favorites.  And let's not forget mythology.  I soaked it up like water in a sponge.
Though A Wrinkle in Time is at its core a somewhat dark book, I don't think I really appreciated darker stories until I hit the teenage years.  I guess teen angst and dark paranormal go together.  Now, things like horror and dark vampire tales like the original Dracula piqued my interest.
I'm lucky to get to explore my fascination with the darker elements in my Shadow Keepers series, written under my J.K. Beck pen name.  The current book, WHEN DARKNESS HUNGERS, features the most tortured hero in the series, Sergius, who not only has spent almost two thousand years battling the darkness that comes from being a vampire, but who also killed the sister of the woman he is fated to love.
Writing Serge's redemption was a challenge...but so rewarding in the end.  I've always loved him, since his first appearance in When Blood Calls, the first book of the series.  I hope you will, too!  (And if you're curious about how I picture him, check out my Shadow Keepers Pinterest board at http://www.pinterest.com/juliekenner )
And, of course, be sure to check out all the Shadow Keepers book at http://www.theshadowkeepers.com
Of course, my love for lighter paranormal hasn't faded.  I'm still writing my Demon Hunting Soccer Mom stories as Julie Kenner, and the next one, Pax Demonica, will be available for purchase later this month!  Visit http://www.juliekenner.com for more info ... and to sign up for my Julie/J.K. newsletter so you never miss a release!

How about you?  Do you remember when your love of paranormal started?  Are you dark or light or both?

Caris was Tiberius’s mate for centuries—until a fateful mission changed her forever. Her tortured secrets drove her into the arms of his rival, but desperation has brought her back. As a horrifying new weapon of mass destruction is about to be unleashed, Tiberius and Caris harness the power of their immortal and passionate love. When Darkness Hungers (The Shadow Keepers #5)

Now she finally has a chance for retribution. Even better, Alexis receives unexpected help from a sexy stranger as hungry for rogue blood as she is.

Serge is a centuries-old bad boy who stays off the grid—keeping his secrets, his hunger, and his heart safe from exposure. A new breed of vampire that feeds off other shadowers, Serge finds sweet torture in Alexis’s arms. Loving her is a chance to be free from the hiding, the loneliness, the secrecy. Until he crosses paths with sinfully sweet Andy Tarrent, a gutsy reporter who makes him crave all the pleasures he’s denied himself for centuries.

Tracking a band of conspiracy theorists eager to spill blood, Andy has uncovered the story of her career. Brooding, mysterious Ryan is an enigma—but their dance of seduction is hotter than any fantasy. As they race to stop mass murder on the streets, Andy knows that Ryan is holding back, keeping secrets. But getting close to Ryan means opening the door to a world that will challenge her deepest beliefs—including what it means to truly surrender to love.

    BLURB

It's Valentine's Day and the D'Artigo women are preparingfor their friend Iris's wedding. But when Delilah and her sisters get word thatthe Super Community Center has been bombed, things get really ugly, The evilcoyote shifters-the Koyami-are back, and Newkirk, their new leader, has joinedforces with a group of rogue sorcerers. Then, just when they think things can'tget worse, the demon lord Shadow Wing sends in a new front man, and life reallygoes to hell...

    MY REVIEW

I was superexcited once this book came out! The D'Artigo sisters are by far my favoritegroup of paranormal gals! So I must tell you that i am not going to put too much in this review because I really really want you all to read it foryourselves. I am not one for spoilers, but i loved this book so much that I amterrified I will put too much in it and then no one will want to buy thebook...that would be sad because it is a great book and everyone should havethe whole series on their shelf!
This bookfollows Delilah(and her sisters of course) There are bad guys, more bad guys, family issues, a few happy moments and romance.
With theBonecrusher gone everyone thought they would get a break. Well, think again.Even with the wedding on the horizon(for Iris of course) they just can't seemto get a break. Someone is blowing up Supes--starting with the SupernaturalCommunity Hall--right where Delilah herself was supposed to be. Now they seemto be targeting specific people that mean a lot to Delilah. What’s a tabby catlike her to do? Enlist the help of her sisters, the gorgeous men that Camilleis married too(yes--3 of them) her amazing and gorgeous half dragon lover,Shade, and all her other various friends. They will get to the bottom of thisbefore all the supes in the city are taken out.
When trash reporter Andy Gambit comes into the picture you just know there issomething heinous going to happen. I really don't like that guy!
With the help of her past love, Chase, they enlist some humans who want thereto be equal rights for all humans and supernatural.
Along withbeing a were cat Deliah is also a Death maiden and she will face her mostdifficult task yet--Claiming her first Soul for the Autumn lord. It is of afriend at that( well someone she thought was a friend)
There are a lot of changes happeningin Delilah's life and she really does not like change. She would be happilycontent to just stay the same forever. Unfortunately for her that can't ahppen.Everyone in her life is moving on. Chase has found a new women. Her sistershave found loves. Iris is married and pregnant. She feels like her world iscrashing around her. it is a good thing she has handsome and roguish Shadethere to take care of her. Which about Shad and Delilah---There is big news inthis book for them! YAY!!!!

In the end this book felt real, thecharacters, the events everything felt real to me. i could see the evilswirling around when the demon came forth. I could taste the sweat in thestripper accident (well okay maybe it was my own dripping down my forehead LOL:because man, there are some steamy parts in this book). Whatever you do go getthis book---you will not regret it!

This bookwas gripping. It jumped out, grabbed hold and didn’t let go! I read it in aday!
There is plentyof action, mystery, love and laughter--So everyone should be able to grab holdof this book and never let go!
I am partial to Delilah so I think this is the best yet--I am anxious to see wherethe sisters and all of their family and friends will go next.
    Happy Reading!

    Review :Darker After Midnight

    Find It HERE

    The Blurb

Once a morally rigid enforcer of Breed law, now a warrior fallen from grace, Chase's biggest battle is the one he wages against his own savage nature. With Bloodlust beckoning him, the path to redemption has never seemed more out of reach--until he finds himself drawn to a beautiful young woman who may be something much more than she seems . .

    MY REVIEW
Darker After Midnight is the long awaited story of Sterling Chase aka Harvard. I am not going to post a lot about the story because I have already erased and re-typed this about 4 times because I ultimately ended up telling the entire story (spoilers and everything).  I am just running on the assumption that some of you have not read this book. Although, more than likely at least 90% of you have read it

    .
Anyway as I said this is Chase’s story. It is full of action, heartbreak, emotions, and personal struggles. Lara Adrian has not disappointed me! Usually as a series goes on and on I find myself reading through the same story but with different characters and slightly different locations. Ms. Adrian has really kept me captivated through the entire series. Each story has its own way of playing out and other than the occasional detail that may seem similar none of them are lacking. Chase’s story is no different in that way. He is on an emotional roller coaster and finds himself in some compromising situations. Ultimately this is my favorite book out of the series by far. I have waited forever for Chase to have his own book and now that it is finally here I have read it not just once but many times. His story is one that I found myself relating to more than the others. Funny how a vampire book can be related to my real life huh? Well, Chase is that one character that I could relate to more than the others simply because of his personality and some of the things he goes through. He is a full and profound character and really brings out the inner girl in me. No he isn’t gay but he is just the right kind of character to make you think about your own life. Now, don’t get me wrong this book is not all serious there are numerous parts that I chuckled over. However, I think Chase’s story is much deeper than the other books in this series. I followed him throughout the series and now that he has had his own book, I look forward to how he may grow and change throughout the rest of the series. Will he sit silently in the background like he found himself doing as of late? Or will the Harvard we all knew from earlier in the series return with a vengeance? If you have not read this one yet please go get it—whether it is from the library, you buy it for yourself or for your e-reader.

So, now that I have rambled and not really given anything away( heck, I really haven't told you much)-----If you have read Darker After Midnight what did you think? Too serious? Not enough action? How about the twist that was put in there with the 1st Gens?????  If you haven't yet had the chance to read it----What are you excited for in this story? What do you think the ultimate outcome for Chase will be??

I would really love to hear all of your opinions.

    Until next time……..

    Happy Reading!

    ARC Review-By A Thread--Jennifer Estep

    Mass Market Paperback: 384 pages
Publisher: Pocket Books (February 28, 2012)
    ISBN-10: 1451651767
    ISBN-13: 978-1451651768

The Blurb (aka back of the book)

When killing people is your job, there’s no such thing as a vacation.
Then again, how often does an assassin live long enough to enjoy her retirement? In this line of work, you either get lucky or you get dead. And since I destroyed my nemesis Mab Monroe a few weeks ago, all of Ashland’s lowlifes are gunning to make a name for themselves by taking out the lethal Spider—me, Gin Blanco. So I’m leaving behind my beloved barbecue joint and heading south with my baby sister, Bria, to cool my heels in a swanky beach town. Call it a weekend of fun in the sun. But when a powerful vampire with deadly elemental magic threatens an old friend of Bria’s, it looks like I’ll have to dig my silverstone knives out of my suitcase after all. Complicating matters further is the reappearance of Detective Donovan Caine, my old lover. But Donovan is the least of my problems. Because this time, the danger is hot on my trail, and not even my elemental Ice and Stone magic may be enough to save me from getting buried in the sand—permanently.

    MY REVIEW

    Gin is back-----Well, mostly.
After defeating Mab (the evil fire elemental ) in the last book, Gin (aka The Spider) finds herself a little melancholy. Everyone either knows or assumes the owner and chef of the Pork Pit is the one and only Spider. Greatest Elemental Assassin ever (what can I say I’m partial)! Finn wants her to take a vacation—which I must say she definitely needs—after all, now that she has defeated Mab everyone is out for her head. They all want to claim the glory of killing The Spider (as if that will ever happen!) Ultimately Gin fights the vacation thing, but then after being attacked she decides maybe she does need a little R&R. So along with her new found sister, Bria, she heads to Blue Marsh. Kind of like a resort town, Blue Marsh was also home to her lost sister Bria for a long time. She is happy to be here, but there is still a lot of tension between her and her sister. After meeting Callie, Bria’s best friend, Gin finds herself a little jealous. All of this is new to her; she is not really an emotional kind of gal. So like The Spider has always known—there is never a break. Gin finds herself smack in the middle of a realty moguls attempts to take over Blue marsh. Callie has been threatened and now Gin must step in to save her sister’s best friend, and hopefully save her relationship with her sister at the same time. Along with Owen(Gin’s yummy man) Finn( the foster brother and Bria’s man) and a few other surprise people The Spider is back and taking no prisoners in her bid to free the world of one more asshole! (Excuse the language but that is just what he is!)

So, after anxiously awaiting this latest installment in the wonderful Elemental Assassins Series, I must say I was contemplating whether I would get as drawn into this one as I have all the previous ones. I was not let down! All the avid Spider fans out there will not be disappointed! I was instantly drawn into the story and it was amazing. I found myself not wanting to put the book down! I even stood at the stove reading while I was cooking! Gin is such a dynamic character—full of determination and always toughness. I loved how she had this whole new side to her where she started opening up to some of her feelings. You all need to go get the book ASAP!!!!!
So, I now find myself awaiting yet the next book in the series –SERIOUSLY—August cannot come soon enough!!!!

Mindy Klasky learned to read when her parents shoved a book in her hands and told her that she could travel anywhere in the world through stories. She never forgot that advice.
Mindy’s travels took her through multiple careers. After graduating from Princeton University, Mindy considered becoming a professional stage manager or a rabbi. Ultimately, though, she settled on being a lawyer, working as a litigator at a large Washington firm. When she realized that lawyering kept her from writing (and dating and sleeping and otherwise living a normal life), Mindy became a librarian, managing large law firm libraries. Mindy now writes full time.
For years, Mindy’s dating life was a travel extravaganza as well. She balanced twenty-eight first dates in one year, selecting eligible gentlemen from sources as varied as Washingtonian magazine ads, Single Volunteers of D.C., and supposedly-certain recommendations from best friends. Ultimately, she swore off the dating scene entirely. After two years of carefully-enforced datelessness, she made one last foray onto Match.com, where she met her husband – on her first match.
Mindy’s travels have also taken her through various literary genres. In addition to her Harlequin Special Editions, Mira, and Red Dress Ink books, Mindy has written traditional fantasy novels for Roc (including the award-winning, best-selling The Glasswrights’ Apprentice), short stories, and nonfiction essays.
In her spare time, Mindy quilts, knits, and tries to tame the endless to-be-read shelf in her home library. Her husband and cats do their best to fill the left-over minutes.

    Interview

1: What inspired you to start writing in the paranormal genre?

Years ago, I used to believe that all of my story ideas were in the fantasy genre – I grew up reading Tolkien, and C.S. Lewis, and other traditional fantasy authors.  I wrote several rather dark fantasy novels, and I wanted a break from the grim secondary worlds I had created.  One day, stretching for something that felt COMPLETELY different from the dark, depressing world I'd been working in, I sketched out an idea for a novel:  "Jane Madison has a problem.  Or two.  Or three."  And that was the beginning of my being a paranormal romance author.

2: In the Jane Madison series she is a very stubborn gal, Are you anything like her? Or even any of your other characters?

Jane and I have a lot in common – we're both librarians, we both have a love of Shakespeare, and we both have a tendency to imagine that the absolute worst is going to happen in any given situation.  (That said, we have some differences, too.  I'm still looking for my witchcraft familiar!)

I instill each of my characters with a little bit of myself.  My love of baking got transferred to Melissa in the Jane Madison series.  My former work as a stage manager got shifted to Kira Franklin in How Not to Make a Wish.  Even my life as a lawyer influenced David Montrose, when he is at his prosecutorial best!

3: Who are your favorite Authors and what are you currently reading?

I read a lot of different authors, skipping around between middle grade, young adult, historical romance, and contemporary romance (with a healthy dose of non-fiction and random other books tossed in.)  Right now, I am fascinated by the fantasy-romance of Stephanie Dray's historical series that starts with Lily of the Nile (about the daughter of Cleopatra and Mark Antony).  I've also been enjoying the light contemporary romances of Kristan Higgins.

4:What initially made you decide to start writing?

I have written stories since I was in elementary school – in seventh grade, my best friend and I decided to write a sequel to The Lord of the Rings.  (Alas, we never finished it…)  After years of playing at writing, I became serious when I was working as a litigator at a major Washington, D.C. law firm – I needed something that was completely different from the day-to-day grind of practicing law.

5: What is the most challenging part of your writing?

Starting.  I find it incredibly difficult to start writing each day – there are always a hundred and one distractions to keep me from typing those first few words.  (Similarly, I find it difficult to start each new novel – I try to trick myself by writing an outline, so that it feels as if the work is already in progress.)

6: Do you have more books planned for any of the series’ I have featured this week?

Next up, I'm going to be writing a novella that bridges the worlds of the Jane Madison series and Fright Court (both are set in Washington, D.C.)  After that, I'm planning on another Jane Madison novel, and then another Fright Court novel.  Whew – I just need another couple of months to get added to this year!

7: If you had to choose one genre to stick with which one would it be?

I love writing light contemporary paranormals, stories about real women in unreal situations.

8: Is there anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

It's always fun to hear from readers, by email, or in comments on my website.  Readers' comments do influence what I write; when readers say they want to hear more of a particular story, that story becomes a higher priority.  So don't hesitate to stop by and tell me what you think about my books!

9: Can you give us a little insight into Kira from How Not to Make a Wish? Did her character just come to you or is she based on someone you know?

I stage managed plays all through high school and college, so the professional aspects of Kira's nature came to me naturally.  I also used to live in the Twin Cities, so Kira's Minneapolis home felt familiar.  As with all my characters, though, Kira is a composite of a lot of real friends and acquaintances (and a fair amount of made up people, too!)

10: What made you decide to carry the As You Wish Series the way you did?  With each book being a stand-alone did it make it harder when you were writing them?

With the As You Wish series, I wanted to give readers a chance to drop in anywhere in the series, without needing to read the books in order.  While Teel, the genie, continues from book to book, the other characters are all new, telling a totally self-contained story.

That method of storytelling was somewhat challenging – I needed to create a new world for each volume, figuring out new characters, new settings, and new background details.  But that's part of the fun of writing too!

11: Are there any plans to continue on with another book that comes after Fright Court?

I look forward to telling the next story about Sarah, James, and Chris.  While they'll figure into the (currently unnamed) novella that I hope to release this spring, they won't get their own full novel until next year.  (I hope to release that in January or February, but part of that schedule will depend on other writing commitments.  There aren't enough hours in the day!

12:  Okay, so now that I have asked you all those deep and meaningful questions----What would be your perfect paranormal date?

I'm much more of a "beta" girl than an "alpha" girl.  While I've adored writing about alpha heroes like David Montrose (a man who can take charge of any disaster in an instant!), my heart secretly melts at quiet, supportive guys like John, in How Not to Make a Wish.

As for specific paranormal creatures to date?  My heart is already taken, so I won't kiss and tell J

13: What is your favorite type of character?

My favorite characters – heroines, heroes, or villains – are complex.  They have multiple layers.  They have self-doubts.  They don't always know the straight path toward their ultimate goal – sometimes they have to wander a bit, testing themselves (and their friends, and their lovers…)  I like characters who feel real, rather than superhuman, perfect specimens.

14:  If you had to take only 2 books with you to a deserted island which ones would they be?

Bulfinch's Mythology (think of all those myths that can be retold in the modern era!)

Can I cheat and take an entire encyclopedia?  I love learning new things every day!

15: My final question, and one I know is bugging everyone who has read any of the books in the featured series-----------Do you have any more books planned to keep any of the series’ going??

Jane Madison:  The next project will be a novella in the spring, and a new novel in the fall.

Fright Court:  A novella in the spring and a new novel next winter.

As You Wish:  Nothing planned at the moment, but that can always change – just as soon as I come up with another story about a magic lamp, a woman in need, and a hero waiting in the wings!
